Yes I Can! Specialist
Melissa works with the National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) as a Program Development Specialist for OKSA, primarily with the Yes I Can! program. She graduated from Evangel University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. Melissa is a member of the Keetoowah Tribe of Cherokee Indians and has worked as a transition program director for a non-profit organization, specializing in native youth transitioning out of foster care. Her other experiences in working with youth include serving as a high school counselor, teacher and therapeutic foster parent. Melissa has 2 children in college (Troy and Leah) and visits them as often as she can. Her parents own a buffalo ranch and she enjoys helping with the animals. She also enjoys writing, playing ping pong and traveling to any place with a lake or beach-front view. She and her husband Gary have been married for 27 years.
